Position Summary

Performs complex and varied skills to implement and maintain the College microcomputer hardware and software in a network environment.

Reporting and Supervisory Relationships

Direct reporting relationship to the Information Technology Resource Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

2. Works independently and utilizes excellent troubleshooting skills.

3. Configures PC hardware and software and analyzes PC hardware and software for conflicts and errors.

4. Creates a clone and broadcast image in computer lab settings while under extreme time constraints.

5. Provides hardware and software support to end-users.

6. Assist with maintenance and documentation, inventory and backup of College PC hardware and software for 1000+ workstations.

7. Assists in recommendation of PC hardware and software based on future LAN/WAN requirements.

8. Provides support to Help Desk for advanced network/computer issues.

9. Provides support in the operation of peripheral equipment to end-users.

10. Provides support to off-campus sites.

11. Applies logic and critical thinking to the process of initiating, monitoring and interpreting computer production.

12. Keeps up to date with industry trends and abreast of latest software updates and PC programs to avoid future interruptions of service to end-users and maintains optimal performance levels.

13. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the role of this position.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree or equivalent college coursework; or high school diploma and four years of job-related experience.

2. Two years of job-related experience, including one-year work experience with currently supported Windows and MacIntosh operating systems and microcomputer hardware in a network environment.

3. Experience cloning computers.

4. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

5. Demonstrated ability to work independently after initial instructions with high degree of accuracy.

6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

1. A+ certification.

2. Network+ certification.

3. Bachelor’s degree or degree candidate in information systems or computer science.

4. Other computer certifications.
