Position Summary

This position serves as the liaison between the PSC, participating high schools and employer partner work sites that are participating in the grant approved pre-apprenticeship program. The pre-apprenticeship navigator will monitor student progress; refer students to counseling and advising as needed. They will coordinate logistics such as transportation, establish academic plans and make referrals to support sources as needed.

Reporting Relationship

Direct reporting relationship to the Dean, Career Technical Education.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Serves as liaison between the Dean, Faculty and other College personnel in the facilitation of student enrollment and scheduling.

2. Coordinates logistics of student transportation to and from the College.

3. Serves as direct contact to students to resolve issues and provide guidance and support while monitoring student progress in both the classroom and at employer worksites.

4. Working with College faculty and partner employers, maintains records of student activities and progress.

5. Establishes and maintains files of important correspondence, records, and reports; retrieves or searches files for information at the administrator’s request and maintains appropriate controls over files.

6. Takes notes, meeting minutes, and prepares correspondence and other material as needed.

7. Maintains confidentiality.

8. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the department, consistent with the role of this position.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field and two years IT administrative duties.

2. Operating knowledge of spreadsheet and database software.

3. Proficient in word processing (Word)

4. Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience working for a community college.

2. Experience working with high school students and administration.

3. Prior internship/apprenticeship experience in the Information Technology field.

4. Experience using D2L or similar learning management system.
